Pirate Jive’s aim is simple. To offer quality, modern jive freestyles at a realistic price and have fun doing it!

About Us

After purchasing Pirate Jive in 2017, I was asked – *what is the one thing you would do from the start* For me this was to ensure effective communication with other local venue owners to avoid clashing.

From this point on I quickly learned moving into a larger venue means more people to please. Having worked with NJC for 3 years prior to Pirate Jive and DJing in my younger days. I knew that listening to the customer was key. Although you can’t please all of the people all of the time, I believe that Pirate Jive has moved forward and with the variety of music I play there is a little something for everyone.

*So no one gets board*
Our endeavour is to please all, meaning we also take requests on the night. If we dont have the request in question we will do our best to find it for next time. If you can dance Modern Jive to it, we will play it. With the loss of our Willington venue we went in search of a replacement, this proved extremely difficult around the Willington area, as no venue seemed to fulfil our welcoming criteria.
Our journey took us to South Normanton where we came across the Post Mill Centre. This venue is just off Market street. Its very clean & comfortable.
Perfect for us Pirates.

After Covid-19 arrived, which meant the opening proved difficult.
The Crew & I decided to run our venues at a loss so we could limit numbers making sure that you, the dancers, felt safe & comfortable. It was amazing to see people coming together and talking.
Slowly but surely the numbers grew and at this point the crew and I realised what we had achieved; We had evolved into the *Pirate Jive* we know today.

We meet monthly at The Post Mill Centre, so why not come and join us with a friend or on your own at our next freestyle.
